Bleeding GumsBleeding gums are not always a sign of gum disease. Generally, bleeding gums are a symptom linked to a gum disease such as gingivitis, periodontitis, trench mouth or other oral disorder. But it is not always the case !Causes of bleeding gums If your gums bleed easily but they are not swollen, this can be a sign of a health condition involving other organs, not necessary the mouth. One of the health issues listed bellow can be the cause of bleeding gingiva: -Anemia -Cirrhosis (Chronic damage to the cells of the liver) -Hemophilia -Leukemia -Multiple Myeloma -Platelet function disorder -Von Willebrand's disease (Chronic bleeding disorder) If both swolling and bleeding occur, usually it is a an oral health disorder such as : -Impacted teeth -Oral cancer -Periodontitis -Tooth abscess -Tooth decay -Tongue disorders -Trench mouth Gums may bleed occasionally, when using a hard toothbrush or when brushing vigorously.
